Lydian Ancient Wine Route Day Tour — Thyateira & Akhisar

Our tour begins in the morning with departure from the designated meeting points in İzmir by comfortable vehicles. Following a pleasant journey through the fertile vineyard landscape of the Gediz Plain, we arrive at Selendi Vineyards, the first stop of the day.

After a brief exploration of the production areas and an introduction to the region’s grape varieties and winemaking culture, we enjoy a special tasting featuring the characteristic wines of Selendi Vineyards.

Following the vineyard visit, we enjoy lunch accompanied by Akhisar Köfte, one of the best-loved flavours of the local cuisine, before beginning an enjoyable afternoon devoted to the history of the city.

We visit the impressive hill tombs of the Ancient City of Thyateira, which carries traces of the Lydian and Roman periods, and witness the archaeological richness of the region.

We then examine artefacts uncovered during excavations at Akhisar Museum, taking another step closer to the stories of past civilisations.

The final stop of the day is Kastro Tireli Vineyards. At this boutique vineyard, which preserves its natural character, we taste wines produced from local grapes and hear the story behind their production.

After an enjoyable time among the vineyards, our return journey to İzmir begins in the evening, and the tour concludes at the original departure points.
